Counselling for those with Gender Issues

I'm currently in the later stages of training as a counsellor, and specialise in working with people who have gender issues (i.e. consider themselves transsexual, transgender, intersex, gender-queer, or have some other unspecified consideration with regard to their gender).

Many 'trans' people, whether 'in the closet' or fully 'out', often find themselves without emotional and personal support, and very much alone in what can be an occasionally hostile world. This isn't helped by the lack of general understanding of what it means to be 'transgendered': most non-trans folk have little or no accurate knowledge of the situation that t-people find themselves in. Dogged by mythology and prejudice, transgendered people are often the most stigmatised of all social groups in modern society.

I have quite a bit of personal experience in this field, but because I am also a trained (and highly qualified) teacher, I am able to give talks or training to the public, voluntary or private sectors on the personal/social/legal aspects of transgenderism.

If you're keen on inviting me along to talk, or just want to find out more, please get in touch (click This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to email me)
